Cavan County Council

Local authorities (otherwise known as city or county council’s) in Ireland are the main providers of social housing support for people who cannot afford their own accommodation. Social housing support includes local authority housing and the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP). You must make an application to the local authority if you wish to receive social housing supports.

If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness and your last permanent address is in Cavan County Council local area, please contact Cavan County Council and request to speak with a member of the homeless team on 049 437 8300. 

Initial Assessment will require you to provide information on your accommodation history, reason for homelessness, eligibility for specific homeless services/emergency accommodation, support needs & signposting to other relevant services. 

You will be required to provide the following documentation - proof of ID (Passport, Driving license, PPS card), proof of income including bank statement, PPSN number, proof of homelessness (notice to quit, eviction notice, court order).
