Title: A guide on innovative solutions to advancing net-zero carbon in social housing built environment |
Overview: This research focuses on the sustainability of Irish social housing from a climate resilience perspective by considering current and emerging solutions to reduce carbon emissions in social housing. A guide or playbook will be developed to assist in designing or retrofitting homes to achieve net zero. This will involve research to identify relevant approaches and technologies for decarbonisation, including current and emerging climate technology solutions. In an Irish context, there is limited, joined-up guidance on how to reduce carbon in buildings and there is no guidance that considers solutions to reduce carbon emissions in social housing. The specific objectives of this research are: 1. To examine what motivates AHBs to reduce their housing carbon footprint, including factors such as regulation and finance. 2. To identify the latest and upcoming methods and technologies that can assist AHBs in reducing the carbon footprint of their housing stock. 3. To produce a concise and easy-to-follow guide that presents the research to the sector. The guide will provide information on how solutions can support decarbonisation efforts. |
