The Housing Agency is a government body working with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) in the delivery of housing and housing services. The Agency also implements the Pyrite Remediation Scheme.

Our Purpose is to accelerate housing supply, in partnership with our key stakeholders, by providing our expertise, support and resources to deliver high-quality homes in vibrant communities. In this strategic period, we will deliver our purpose in three ways:

  1. Being a Centre of Knowledge for Housing Insights.

  2. Addressing Housing Supply and Affordability.

  3. Supporting the Creation of Sustainable and Inclusive Communities.

Social housing support is provided by your local authority. The Housing Agency provides support and expertise to aid social housing delivery.

The Mortgage to Rent scheme is a government initiative to help home owners who are at risk of losing their home.

If you are a property owner you might be able to lease your properties for social housing purposes

The Cost Rental Tenant In-Situ (CRTiS) Scheme will be available where a household faces the termination of a tenancy due to the landlord’s intention to sell the property, subject to meeting other criteria.

Our Data Hub provides access to housing data on a range of issues to give an overview of housing in Ireland.
