Title: Providing environmental leadership in social housing to advance Climate Action goals |
Overview: This project will inform the efficient targeting of a retrofit scheme for Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) outlined in Housing for All, assess the contribution AHBs can make to protecting and enhancing biodiversity, and consider infrastructural risks resulting from climate change and how best to mitigate these. This project aims to develop an analysis of the needs, capacity and supports available to realise environmentally sustainable social housing; and develop a clear vision for a climate resilient AHB sector and an actionable plan to enable the Housing Alliance and its members to provide effective climate leadership. With a total stock of over 30,000 homes, Housing Alliance members have a significant role to play in meeting national climate goals. This research will develop a comprehensive analysis of actions and practical recommendations to maximise the potential contribution of the AHB sector to address climate change challenges. It will support policy development and provide a policy system with the information needed to develop effective and efficient targeted supports for AHB sustainability actions. |
